I founded Glamping Innovations because I wanted to bring unique and innovative products to the market. I also wanted to help new and existing site owners take their businesses to the next level.
With nearly 10 years of experience in the glamping industry, it’s safe to say I’ve visited many sites in that time!
From what happens at a site visit to planning permission, income & regulations, here’s what I’ve learnt about site visits and why they’re so important in creating the ultimate guest experience.
WHY DO I NEED A GLAMPING SITE VISIT?
Before starting any new glamping project it’s essential to make sure it is going to work in the area first and a site visit is the best way to do this!
However, it’s also a great way to discuss the future of your site. Our aim at Glamping Innovations isn’t just to provide products to the industry and site owners, it’s also to help site owners continually grow their business and set themselves apart from other sites with memorable experiences for their guests.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT A GLAMPING SITE VISIT
Before we book a date for your site visit we will always have an initial consultation – either over the phone, via email or video call to gauge an idea of what it is you’re looking to do at your site.
This will help us to know what products you’re interested in installing as well as what services your site already has.
As well as the products, we will also go over planning permission, services & utilities and timescales. We will also talk you through how you can make the most of the environment and ensure that products blend into the natural elements of the land.
To make sure you’re totally prepared in setting up your glamp site, at every glamping site visit we will also go over marketing, promotion, return on investment, and market trends.
HOW LONG DOES A GLAMPING SITE VISIT TAKE?
Depending on how big the site and the project you’re looking to do, a site visit normally only takes between 1 – 2 hours.
During this time we will walk the area, looking at all aspects of the land that could be a special feature or even a hindrance.
One of the most commonly asked questions we get during consultations and site visits is – “do I need planning permission?”
PLANNING PERMISSION & REGULATIONS AT A GLAMPING SITE
Whilst at Glamping Innovations we can’t get planning permission for you, we can help you with your application! We can help provide drawings, details, and specifications on the products, but it is always best to deal directly with your local authority as they know what is going on in the local area.
We can also help recommend planners if needed.
Top Tip – If you already have land then we recommend being flexible with your approach to units. Planners tend not to like having a surplus of similar sites in one area and will be aware of what is available locally. For example, if there are a few glampsites locally with shepherd huts then offer something different and develop a strong USP.

SERVICES & UTILITIES – DOES MY GLAMPING SITE NEED POWER AND WATER?
Whilst we don’t install services (water and power) ourselves we will always advise you on what’s needed.
However, the even better news is that all of our products are available off or on-grid, so no power no problem!
WHAT PRODUCT TO CHOOSE?
This is the fun bit! Whether you’ve got a product in mind you’d like to add to your site or you’re interested in knowing more about new products in the market, the aim of every glamping site visit is to provide you with the very best product for your site.
When choosing the right product, together we will look at:

- Whether they are they suitable for your area
- Each products unique features
- How the product will help your glamp site stand out from the crowd
- What future products can be added to compliment the site

We will therefore always be honest and not persuade you to go ahead if we think the land or space will not work with our products.
